Description:
This was the inaugural meeting of the Athy & District Open Coursing Club held on St. Valentine’s day 1988 at Boherbaun, Co. Kildare, the famed running ground over which the White Cup was contested in the late 1800s. It was a great meeting with a very large crowd and wonderful coursing. The picture shows the final of the P. J. McEvoy Cup which the brindled Boss Duke on the ‘red’ won beating Interesting Era, a blue-brindled dog. Tom Cox judged the meeting and Tom Murphy performed the slipping duties.
