Unusually, two black greyhounds contested the final of the 158th running of the Waterloo Cup. The painting shows the deciding course run on the Withins, Gt. Altcar on 16 February 2005 viewed from the ‘Popular Bank’ side. Sashi, in the White collar, led by a length and beat Hardy Admiral in the Red collar to win the Cup. The meeting was slipped by Arron Atmore; Bob Burdon was the Judge. Sadly, as the Hunting Act 2004 came into force two days later, this course marked the end of the great 170-year old Waterloo Cup tradition.
